Foliware manufactures premium areca palm leaf plates, bowls, and trays, alongside reinforced traditional leaf plates, for hospitality, catering, food service, institutional, retail, private label, and export markets. Every piece is produced under ISO 22000:2018 & ISO 9001:2015 certified systems, using nothing but water and heat.
Here is the whole business in thirty seconds: what we make, the collections it falls into, who we supply, and why buyers move their repeat orders to us. The detail behind each point follows further down the page.
Premium areca palm leaf plates, bowls, and trays, heat-pressed from the palm's naturally shed leaf sheath, with no added chemicals, dyes, or coatings.

See the proofMost eco-tableware brands compete on how many shapes they can list. We took the opposite path: a small set of square plates and a bowl, designed to work together as one coherent system that a kitchen can standardise around and reorder without thinking.
It starts with a quiet reframing. In India, a dinner plate is assumed to be a 10–12 inch round. But globally, 9–10 inches is the standard meal size, and a square shape adds usable area without adding bulk. Our 9″ square plate is a full dinner plate, with no oversized rim and no wasted edge.
Our plates are formed from the areca palm's leaf sheath, the broad outer casing that wraps the base of each leaf stem. It is not the nut, not the fruit, and not any part of the plant that is eaten. It is the protective sheath the palm sheds naturally as it grows.
An adult areca palm drops seven to eight of these sheaths a year, on its own, throughout its life. Collectors gather only what has already fallen. There is no cutting, no harvesting pressure, and no harm to the tree, a renewable agricultural by-product recovered from the orchard floor.
India sheds an estimated 1,000 million areca leaf sheaths each year, roughly 2.33 lakh tonnes of material that would otherwise return to the soil. We give a share of it a second, food-grade life.
These aren't taglines. They are the reasons buyers move their repeat orders to Foliware and keep them here.
We build a small set of repeatable, design-led models the market can reorder with confidence, not an ever-growing catalogue. Standardisation is what turns disposable tableware into a dependable supply line.
This category has lacked clear thinking for years. We explain what the material is, why square works, and where it fits, so buyers choose well. Simplifying and explaining is part of the product.
Regulatory status for this material genuinely differs by market. Rather than a blanket safety claim, we publish the full scientific and regulatory record and provide market-specific documentation, because informed buyers make the best long-term partners.
Every stage runs under documented ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 procedures: sorting, washing, pressing, inspection, count, and packing. No informal shortcuts. That discipline is what shows up at your receiving dock.
The structural strength of a Foliware plate comes from the sheath's own lignin, the plant's natural binder, activated by heat and pressure. No dyes, bleaches, adhesives, binders, synthetic waxes, or coatings are introduced at any stage.
Every input at every stage is listed in our ISO 22000 HACCP documentation, and the only things on that list are water and heat. It's a claim you can audit, not just read.
Every certification Foliware holds is current and audited, and the supporting documentation is provided as standard for export and institutional supply relationships.
Food Safety Management System covering hazard analysis, critical control points, process-water standards, and microbiological safety management across the full production cycle. Audited and current.
Quality Management System governing process control, dimensional consistency, output inspection, corrective-action protocols, and repeat-order reliability across manufacturing and supply operations.
Batch-level independent testing for microbiological safety and heavy metals, conducted at NABL-accredited laboratories. Results confirm heavy metals below detectable limits. Reports available to procurement teams on request.
Process water conforms to IS 10500 drinking-water parameters at all manufacturing stages. No chemical cleaning agents are used at any point. Validated within the ISO 22000:2018 framework.
Registered with DGFT, Government of India, enabling compliant export invoicing, customs clearance, and formal shipping documentation for all international orders.
Registered manufacturing unit under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, confirming Foliware as a formalised production establishment with documented systems.
Food-contact regulation for areca leaf tableware differs meaningfully by market. Rather than a single blanket claim, our Consumer Education resource sets out the complete scientific and regulatory picture (composition, testing, and the market-by-market position), so each buyer can evaluate the product against the framework that applies to them.
Foliware's pricing, documentation, and logistics are calibrated for professional procurement relationships: repeat, volume supply rather than one-off transactions. Minimum order is one master carton.
Hotels, restaurants, and catering operations requiring consistent product across high-volume covers.
High-frequency single-use requirement with short-duration microwave reheating suitability and hygienic inner packing.
US, UK, UAE, EU, and APAC importers requiring IEC-registered supply with full export documentation.
Distributors supplying tableware to trade who need consistent finish and accurate carton counts.
Retail and trade chain buyers requiring carton-level accuracy, labelling support, and repeatable supply.
Corporates, educational institutions, and large-scale operators with structured procurement processes.
High-volume events needing large-format trays, plates, and bowls with reliable supply timelines.
Regional distributors and wholesale importers who on-sell to foodservice, retail, and industrial buyers.
Most buyers compare areca leaf tableware on headline price per unit. Count accuracy, consistency, hygiene, and documentation are what determine the true landed cost of supply.
A lower per-unit price often becomes a higher operational cost once under-counts, rejected units, hygiene failures, and missing documentation are factored in.

A manufacturer. Foliware is a registered Udyam MSME production unit operating under ISO 22000:2018 and ISO 9001:2015 systems. We control the process from sheath sorting through pressing, inspection, count, and packing, which is what makes consistency, documentation, and audit-readiness possible.
No. The plates are made from the areca palm's leaf sheath, the naturally shed outer casing of the leaf stem, not the nut, fruit, or any part that is eaten. It functions purely as a non-consumed food-contact surface. Our Consumer Education resource explains the material's composition and the full regulatory picture in detail.
A square gives you edge-to-edge usable surface, where a round plate's wide rim goes unused. That lets a 9″ square work as a full dinner plate without the bulk of a 10–12″ round. Paired with 8″, 6″, 5″ plates and a 4″ bowl, it becomes one coherent serving system rather than a set of random sizes.
Yes. ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 certificates, NABL lab reports (microbiological and heavy metals), IEC registration, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, and packing lists are provided on request.
